The Faculty of Agriculture at the National University of Laos hosted an important meeting in Vientiane on 4–6 June 2025 under the theme “Geotechnology for Climate Adaptation: Building a Shared Information Network.”

The event brought together 38 participants, including representatives from four universities - National University of Laos, Souphanouvong University, Savannakhet University, and Champasak University - along with officials from the Department of Agricultural Land Management and Development and the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Supported by the European Union–funded project "Intelligent Geotechnologies for Resilient Agricultural Adaptation to Climate Change in Lao PDR - INTEGRAL", the initiative focused on strengthening the capacity of Lao institutions in Geotechnology through technical training, curriculum development and closer collaboration between universities and government agencies

Key discussion points included:

  • Establishing a formal network to share geographic data, tools, and human resources
  • Developing joint training programs to promote climate-resilient agricultural practices
  • Advancing collaborative research in Geotechnology
  • Creating a reliable platform for information exchange among institutions.

Panel discussions also emphasized the importance of building a university-based information exchange network and advancing agricultural education toward modern, technology-driven practices.

This meeting marks an important step toward long-term cooperation, aiming to equip Lao PDR institutions with the tools and knowledge needed to adapt effectively to the impacts of climate change.
